UK – Brazilians do not need a visa for tourism, business or study trips, with a stay of less than 6 months, as long as they meet the standard visitor eligibility requirements.

At the border with the United Kingdom, you must provide a passport valid for the entire stay and the immigration officer may request documents proving the reason for travel, financial capacity, accommodation reservation, among others.

Visas

You will need to apply for a UK visa if you intend to stay for more than six months.

Specific purposes also determine your request: Study, Work, Investments, Opening a Company, Marriage, etc.

The request can be made in Brazil at least three months in advance of the trip.

Visa Categories

- Student

  • Short-Term Study Visa

This visa is for English courses lasting more than 6 months and up to 11 months.

 

  • Student Visa (General Visa Student)

Allows you to study in the UK if you are 16 or over and have been offered a place on a course at a licensed institution. In this case, you will need to provide a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

 

  • Child Student Visa

For applicants aged 16 or 17 who wish to study at an independent school in the UK.

- Work

As long as the eligibility criteria are met, anyone wishing to remain in England to undertake paid work must have a confirmed job offer before applying for a visa, which can last up to 5 years before needing to be extended.

The visa extension can be granted as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

After 5 years, you can apply for permanent residence in the UK, which gives you the right to live, work and reside indefinitely.

Family visa

Visa for those who wish to join a family member who is settled in the United Kingdom.

 

- Marriage

A spouse visa is another way to legally live in the UK. The British government offers different types of permits for each applicant. These permits also depend on where your partner lives and whether you wish to live in the country after the ceremony.

  • Marriage Visitor Visa

For those who do not intend to live in the United Kingdom after the ceremony and plan to stay less than 6 months in the country.

 

  • Family Visa

Intended for applicants who intend to live permanently in the United Kingdom, and if the spouse is a British citizen, established in the country.

 

Applicants who do not have a marriage visitor visa or a family visitor visa can also notify their intention to marry or form a civil partnership. However, in these cases, the UK government is informed and can proceed in two ways:

– Ask some questions about your relationship, however, if this happens, applicants are likely to need to wait up to 70 days before getting married or forming a civil partnership;

– Not approving the notification. In this case, applicants cannot marry or form a civil partnership in the UK.

 

Standard Visitor Visa

If you visit the UK regularly, you may choose to apply for a Standard Visitor visa, as well as:

  • For medical reasons: 11 months
  • For academics: 12 months
