Austria – Schengen C Visa

The Schengen C visa is designed for tourism, business or visiting purposes (without paid employment) for a maximum duration of 90 days in every 180 days.

If a stay of more than 90 days is planned, a D visa must be applied for, which allows the holder to stay in Austria for up to 6 months.

Each visa application is subject to a case-by-case examination by the competent Consulate.

Holders of a Schengen visa are, in principle, authorized to enter and remain in the Schengen States as long as the visa is not subject to territorial restrictions.

The Schengen States are:

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the following non-EU countries: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

In general, supporting documents must include a German translation upon request from the Consulate.

When submitting documents in English, a translation into German is not necessary. Please contact the responsible Consulate directly to clarify the need for an appropriate translation of the documents into German.

Initially, the following supporting documents and information are required:

A duly completed and signed application form.

Passport photo according to ICAO criteria (color, 35×45 mm)

Passport (with at least 2 blank pages, less than 10 years old, valid for at least 3 months beyond the duration requested for the visa).

Collection of biometric data in the form of fingerprints, unless they have already been collected in the last 59 months in the process of a decision regarding an application for a Schengen visa (ten fingerprints, collected with open fingers and stored digitally).
