Short-term stay of Brazilian citizens in Germany

Germany – Under the agreement signed between the European Union and Brazil on the exemption of short-stay visas, Brazilian citizens holding valid ordinary, diplomatic, service or other official passports may enter or transit through Germany and the member states of the European Union (except the United Kingdom and Ireland) without a visa and may stay for a maximum of three months within a six-month period, if the trip is for tourism or business purposes. The period begins on the day of the first entry. It is possible to enter and leave several times, as long as the total number of days of stay does not exceed three months within the six-month period from the first entry.

For a stay of up to three months for each six-month period, the following entry conditions apply for a third-country national:

• Present a travel document issued in the previous ten years and valid for at least three months beyond the scheduled departure date.
• Prove the purpose and circumstances of the intended stay.
• Prove that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself during your stay.
• It is recommended that you take out travel health insurance. This is not mandatory, but it is extremely useful.
The following are considered tourist or commercial purposes:

• tourist activities,
• visits to relatives,
• exploring commercial possibilities, participating in meetings, signing contracts and financial, managerial or administrative activities,
• participation in meetings, conferences and seminars, provided that these activities are not remunerated by European Union sources (except for direct coverage of accommodation costs or payment of daily allowances),
• participation in sports or artistic competitions, provided that participants are not remunerated from European Union sources, even if it is possible to win prizes in the competition, including cash prizes
• medical treatment.

As a rule, there is no exemption from a visa for people who intend to carry out paid work, have an employment relationship, work in research, look for a job vacancy or do an internship during a short-term stay.

In this country, Brazilians do not need an entry visa
