ESTA – Travel Authorization
The Visa Waiver Program allows citizens of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business without a visa, as long as their stay in the country is 90 days or less. To qualify for travel under the Visa Waiver Program, the applicant must complete the Electronic Travel Authorization (ESTA). The following countries participate in the ESTA program: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Malta, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
All eligible international travelers wishing to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for an authorization.
You must request it no later than 7 days before departure. After this deadline, there may not be enough time to process your request.
It may take up to 72 hours or more for your ESTA travel authorization confirmation to be sent. Once approved, you will receive a reference number. Your ESTA authorization is valid for 2 years. During these 2 years, you can travel to the United States whenever you wish, until the YES/NO answers to the questions on your ESTA form change or until your passport expires. We recommend that you bring a copy of your ESTA application response with you to the airport of departure.
Brazilians with dual nationality, if their other nationality is part of the program, may apply for the ESTA electronic travel authorization with their second travel document instead of their Brazilian passport. The ESTA is valid for 2 years and the holder of this authorization may remain on American soil for a maximum of 90 days.
You are not eligible to travel on ESTA if:
• Intend to study;
• Intend to remain in the United States for more than 90 days;
• criminal record;
• Do you have any infectious disease, such as tuberculosis;
• If you have been denied a visa, deported, or denied entry to the United States.
