Brazil sees 28% increase in green card applications in 2022

Visto americano
According to the United States Department of Homeland Security, the number of Brazilians seeking permanent residence in the country has increased significantly in the last year. More than 23 thousand Brazilians received the green card, the American permanent residence document in 2022, representing an increase of 28% compared to the previous year.
Brazil ranked ninth among the countries that received the most green cards, behind Mexico, India, China, Dominican Republic and the Philippines. This increase reflects the growing movement of Brazilians looking for work opportunities and better living conditions in the United States.
According to experts, the shortage of labor in the USA and the political-economic deterioration in Brazil are factors that drive this phenomenon. Furthermore, obtaining a green card paves the way for naturalization and the possibility of bringing family members to the country.
The tendency is for these numbers to continue to grow in the coming years, as more Brazilians seek to fulfill their dream of living and working in the United States.
